Anti-ragging Cell

Ragging is banned and treated as a serious offence in the institute and very strict action will be taken against the offenders. Punjab Government has also adopted the Punjab Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Bill, 2013, to ban ragging in the state. Ragging has been treated as an disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or by an act which has the effect of teasing, or treating with rudeness any other student, which causes annoyance, or psychological harm or to elevate fear in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing a sense of shame or embarrassment.
To safeguard ideals of scholarship, character and personal behaviour, the institute reserves the right to expel any student at any time.
Anti Ragging cell comprises of Convener, members of teaching staff and students who perform their duties in respect of maintaining of the discipline in the institute. The important functions of Anti Ragging Cell are as follows:

  • To take cognizance of any breach of discipline and suggest immediate disciplinary action in such cases.
  • To decide the quantum of punishment on erring students.
  • To conduct enquiries of the defaulter students against ragging.
  • To take preventive steps such as issue of notices, warnings, instructions, regulating certain actions etc. against the defaulters.
  • Collection of relevant evidences of incidence of ragging.
