Overview
       The department of economics is one of the oldest departments of the Guru Nanak College which was established in 1971 with the introduction of an Under Graduate aided regular course in Economics. Since then the department offered quality and value based education in the field of economics in order to produce students with excellent analytical, managerial and administrative skills, capable of competing and contributing professionally at the national and international level. It helps the students to understand and analyze the complex economic issues by applying creative skills and prepares them for diverse careers in education, financial, markets, banking, civil services etc. It offers 3-year integrated B. A. programme in economics and covering 7 papers viz. Micro Economics, Macro Economics, Indian Economy, Public Finance, International Economics, Economics of Development and Quantitative Methods. The faculty members of the department regularly participate in national and international conferences, seminars as paper presenter and have published articles in reputed national and international journals and also a good number of books. The department has also conducted various guest lectures by eminent speakers.
