Punjabi department feels proud to be first postgraduate department of the college. M.A. Punjabi was started in 2003. The students of the department have succeeded in gaining the highest place in merit list. Many students of the department have been teaching in different-different institutions after doing M Phil. Ph. D Degrees from renowned universities. At present 16 teachers are giving their services to the department. Besides class room teaching, to prosper Punjabi language literature and culture has become the responsibility of the department.

A master's degree in Punjabi develops skills such as analytical thinking, critical perspective and interculturality that inspire students to engage critically with literary texts.It prepares to become a writer, translator, speaker, editor, proof-reader, copywriter and interpreter.There are many job opportunities available in the field of education, various government agencies, journalism etc.Students can also contribute to online content as writers and technical translators.Future prospects for research and higher studies including M.Phil. and Ph.D. can also be taken advantage of.Students will benefit qualitatively by being sensitized to social issues and causes capable of becoming hardworking, conscientious and responsible global citizens.
