1. Introduction
S. Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Central Library
The library of the college is well stocked with good collection of books, journals and other reading materials. The collection is augmented on regular basis according to the requirements of students and faculty. To facilitate a congenial atmosphere for reading, the library has been fully air-conditioned. The library subscribes different scholarly journals catering to the multi-dimensional and ever changing information needs of the users. The functioning of the library has been fully computerized using Bar-code system. The library provides Web-OPAC service to the users for finding any kind of bibliographic information related to library books from anywhere in the world. The library is well equipped with all state of the art information technology to render divergent services, i.e., CAS (Current Awareness Services), Xerox Service, Bibliographic service, Internet Service, Circulation Service, Information Advisory Service, Reference Service, Reading Service, Periodical Service, Book Bank Service,etc. The library has established its E-Library for which it has subscribed two major consortia namely N-LIST and DELNET in order to provide the students and faculty with wide range of e-resources in the form of e-books, e-journals, e-magazines, e-newspapers, databases, etc.

For the smooth functioning of the library of the college and safe guarding of the interests of all sections of the library users, formation of policies, rules and regulations and implementing the library policies in effective manner, Library Advisory Committee(LAC) is constituted in the college.

7. Library Circulation Section: Circulation section is the first contact point for faculty and users to handle the Front Desk operations of the library. Major activities of this section are:
1. Registration of new members
2. Issue of barcode generated lD cards for users
3. Lending of books
4. Reminders for overdue books
5. Reservation of books..
6. Renewal of membership cards, records and files.
7. Maintenance of compendiums.
8. Sending reminders to users.
9. Operation of Circulation Module of Library Management software.
lssue/ Return Policy
(1). Quickly check the book for any damage.
(2). Enter details into the issue database.
(3). Make sure that the user writes the details of the book on the library slip and signs on the book card.
(4). Issue the books.
(5). Handover the book/ library slips to the user.
While receiving the books:
(1). Quickly check the book for any damage.
(2). Check due date.
(3) Cancel the entry in library slip.
(4) Cancel the entries from user account.
(5). Send books to stack for shelving
8. Library Collection Development Policy:
The collection development policy sets goals for the collection that reflect the library's mission. The collection development policy provides information to the library's stakeholders about how the collection is chosen, and it explains who is responsible for making decisions about the collection. The effectiveness of library functions is directly related to the Collection Development policy and the organization of information services. Collection Development

Library must make special provision in the budget to strengthen the new programmes with minimal learning resources. Based on the observations, an effort should be done to add books, journals and e-resources in the field of new programme.
Follow up with various funding agencies like UGC, DST etc. for augmenting finances to strengthen the collection development process.
To support the new academic programmes and addition of new journals and database, library must follow up with various agencies like UGC, DST etc.
For anywhere, anytime multiple accesses, there is a considerable demand for online database, e- journals, e-books. Our college library has excellent e resources access infrastructure like e resource corner in library and Wi-Fi connectivity.

E-PG Pathshala: (https://epep.inflibnet.ac.inl).It provides interactive e-content in 70 subjects across all disciplines of social sciences, arts, fine arts and humanities, natural & mathematical sciences.
E- Shod Sindhu: (https://ess.inflibnet.ac.inl). e-Shod Sindhu merges three consortia initiatives, namely UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, NLIST and INDEST-AICTE Consortium. lt provides current as well as archival access to more than 10,000 core and peer-reviewed journals and a number of bibliographic, citation and factual databases in different disciplines.
Shodhaganga: ( https://shodheanea.inflibnet.ac.in/). This digital platform facilitates open access to tndian theses and dissertations written in all languages. Online availability of electronic theses ensures a check on the duplication of ideas and information.
Shodh Shudhi: (https://shodhshuddhi.inflibnet.ac.in/). It provides access to Plagiarism Detection Software (PDS) to all universities/institutions.
