HISTORY OF COLLEGE

HISTORY OF COLLEGE

The College was started in July 1971 in the holy memory of the fifth birth centenary of the great Saint, Guru Nanak Dev Ji under the leadership and efforts of Sardar Purshotam Singh Ex M.L.A. Pradhan and another member of the managing committee. The Gram Panchayat of Budhlada village donated a lot of land. That was adequate for the college building, playground and other necessities. Prior to the construction of its building, the College operated for some time at Budhlada Industrial Training Centre. Later, it was brought to the existing building in which open rooms, canteen, bicycle stand, stage and administrative block were constructed. The structure is situated at the confluence of Budhlada-Jakhal and Budhlada-Sunam roads, one mile outside the city, in the lap of nature.

The secluded and peaceful environment here is conducive to education. Inspired by the name of the great Guru associated with this college, the mental and moral strength of the students is emphasised. Thus, in order to overcome the backwardness of the area, common education has been arranged from 10 + 1 to BA level. The objective of this college is to provide higher education for the ordinary men of the area without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed and religion. It’s door is open to all. Some new subjects have been added to this college and it can be further developed in collaboration with the area and the City. In this way, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, the former Chief Minister of Punjab, built this inaugural stone and this college could prove to be a new milestone in the development of the area.
